The Grade II listed Halifax Borough Market is a stunning feature of Halifax town centre and still retains many of it's original victorian features. Opened in 1896 by the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George V and Queen Mary) the market has been a focal point for trade in the town ever since. The market operates six days a week with 179 stalls and 47 external shops and was voted Best Market by the National Association of British Market Authorities in 2008.
